A large fire burned through an exterior storage area near N. Nellis Boulevard Friday night, prompting a second-alarm response and closing the roadway, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
Crews responded around 9 p.m. to the 2600 block of N. Nellis Boulevard near East Carey Avenue, where they found heavy smoke and flames involving a large storage area and nearby utility poles and lines.
Fire officials stated that the blaze covered an area roughly the size of a city block and quickly escalated into a defensive operation due to the intensity of the fire. Crews remained in suppression mode as they worked to contain the flames.
