Carson City Woman Arrested for DUI

A 23-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop in Carson City, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy on patrol around 2:08 a.m. observed a vehicle traveling on Curry Street without illuminated taillights. The vehicle turned onto Fleischmann Way and then onto Long Street, where the deputy initiated a stop near the intersection of Long Street and North Curry Street.

According to the arrest report, the driver initially struggled to provide proper documentation, handing the deputy a Nevada DMV smog document instead of her vehicle registration. The deputy also noted a slight slur in her speech and difficulty locating and retrieving her driver’s license from her purse.

When asked how much she had to drink, the woman told the deputy she had one “tall” can of Twisted Tea. She agreed to perform field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment, the report states.

A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .248, with additional tests showing .201 and .189.

Authorities have not released her name.
