An investigation is underway after a tribal member was found dead in a canal near Fallon over the weekend.
The Fallon Paiute Shoshone Police Department says a passerby discovered the body of Kelly Benjamin in a canal southeast of Hicks Road just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and confirmed the individual was deceased.
According to tribal police, there are no signs of foul play at this time, though the death remains under routine investigation.
