Las Vegas Man Arrested for Attack on Wheelchair User

Authorities arrested a 39-year-old North Las Vegas man last month after he attacked a man in a wheelchair near the Las Vegas Strip.

The incident occurred shortly before noon on February 28 in the area of Elvis Presley Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard South. Officers responded after a caller reported an assault in progress. Police said the suspect, later identified as Jacob Danielson, was seen fleeing south along Las Vegas Boulevard in front of the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, shouting at passersby and appearing agitated.

An officer stopped Danielson near an LVMPD kiosk. Although he initially ignored commands to stop and show his hands, Danielson ultimately complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators said the victim, a man in his 50s who uses a wheelchair, told police that he saw Danielson lying “lifeless” in the middle of the sidewalk. When Danielson began to awaken, the victim moved out of the way.

The victim said Danielson then approached from behind, grabbed his collar, and pulled with enough force to bend him forward, nearly tipping him out of his wheelchair. The victim declined medical treatment but indicated he wanted to press charges.

Danielson told investigators, “I’m only drunk,” and made several incoherent and politically motivated statements about the victim, including saying, “I’m a spider.”

Officers noted that he appeared intoxicated and became increasingly agitated during transport and booking. Deputies booked Danielson into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of battery involving an elderly or vulnerable person.

He was released the following day and is supposed to return to court on April 28.
