A former Clark County employee accused of stealing an attorney’s bar number to impersonate him in court entered a plea agreement earlier this week.
Deputies arrested Jerrell Roberts last August after attorney Jerrell Luis Berrios reported that his bar number was being used fraudulently in another case. An investigation found Roberts had misrepresented himself as Berrios on three separate occasions, according to an arrest report.
Authorities said Roberts used false names and business titles, including “Jerrell D. Roberts, Esq., Attorney and Financial Consultant,” “Roberts & Legacy Wealth Advisors,” and “Roberts & Legacy LLP.”
Roberts agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge of Obtaining and Using the Personal Identifying Information of Another during a hearing on Wednesday. The plea agreement requires Roberts to stay away from Berrios, pay all required restitution, and remain law-abiding.
If Roberts meets all conditions, he may later withdraw the felony plea and instead plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Practicing Law Without a License.
Roberts previously worked for Clark County Juvenile Court Services and was placed on unpaid leave following his arrest. His sentencing date is June 17.
