A 29-year-old woman killed after being struck by a commercial truck on Interstate 80 near Winnemucca earlier this month has been identified, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded around 7:20 a.m. on March 8 to a reported crash near mile marker 12 in Humboldt County, just west of the downtown Winnemucca/US-95 North interchange. A preliminary investigation determined the crash occurred hours earlier, late on the night of March 7.
Authorities say Misty April Danese Jackson, 29, of Rienzi, Mississippi, was walking eastbound in the number two westbound travel lane of I-80 and was headed toward oncoming traffic.
At the same time, a red 2026 Kenworth T-680 commercial motor vehicle was traveling westbound in that lane. Investigators say the vehicle’s right front struck Jackson. She came to rest on the outside dirt shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The trucking company that owns the Kenworth is cooperating with investigators. The crash remains under investigation.
