Washoe County Moves 55,000 Voters to Inactive Status

The Washoe County Registrar of Voters has marked more than 55,000 voter records as inactive as part of routine list maintenance, Registrar Andrew McDonald told the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

The off-year cycle saw an additional 25,000 inactive voter registrations canceled. The updates come ahead of the 2026 election, as the county prepares for a series of improvements to the voting process.

Officials are introducing new ballot-marking devices, which will be ready for voters this election cycle. In addition, Washoe County will debut Nevada’s first ADA curbside voting program, available at all in-person voting locations.
