An eight-year-old boy was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center on Sunday after falling about 30 feet from a chairlift at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.
According to the Lake Valley Fire Protection District, the fall happened around 1:20 p.m. on the Grandview chairlift. Emergency crews said the boy’s age and the distance of the fall prompted responders to request air transport to a hospital.
Ski Patrol responded immediately, providing first aid before transporting the boy to a designated landing zone for the helicopter.
Fire crews from Lake Valley Fire Protection District Battalion 7 and Medic 7 met CALSTAR Air Medical Services at the landing zone. After evaluating the situation, crews determined the boy should be flown to Renown immediately.
