The City of Reno has appointed Washoe County Undersheriff Corey Solferino as Acting Chief of Police following the administrative leave of Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance and five department employees. The change is effective immediately and comes as part of an interlocal agreement with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to provide temporary leadership support.
Solferino currently oversees multiple divisions at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, including detention operations, administrative services, and personnel management.
City officials stated that the temporary leadership arrangement is to ensure continued stability while an independent administrative investigation is underway.
The Reno Police Protective Association (RPPA) confirmed it is not aware of any members involved in the allegations that led to the administrative leave.
