Woman Arrested in Carson City for Felony DUI

A 30-year-old woman was arrested early Saturday morning in Carson City on suspicion of felony DUI and other offenses following a traffic stop, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies booked Guadalupe Rodriquez on suspicion of driving with a canceled driver’s license and operating a vehicle without illuminated headlamps, both misdemeanor offenses.

According to the report, a deputy observed an SUV at about 12:40 a.m. make a left turn from Carmine Street southbound onto Airport Road without its headlights on. The vehicle’s lights were not on until it reached the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Airport Road as the deputy was initiating a traffic stop.

During the initial contact, the deputy reported the driver kept her head down or turned away as if attempting to hide her face. When asked for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance, the woman provided the registration and proof of insurance and told the deputy that that was all that they needed. The deputy advised that her driver’s license was also required.

While she searched for the license, the deputy began asking questions and observed that she was mumbling and providing short responses.

The woman later stepped out of the vehicle and consented to standardized field sobriety tests. Before the tests began, she told the deputy she had been drinking earlier that night. She said she had one mixed drink around 10:45 p.m. and had stopped drinking about two hours before the stop, according to the report.

Deputies reported observing signs of impairment during the field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.216. At the Carson City jail, she provided evidentiary breath samples registering 0.172 and 0.167, according to the report.
