Police Investigate Self-Inflicted Shooting

Reno, Nev. — Reno police are investigating a shooting that occurred late Tuesday morning near Third Street and West Street.

Officers responded to the area at about 10 a.m. on Jan. 14 after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers quickly located both the suspect and the victim at the scene.

Investigators determined the incident began when a man walking his dog encountered another individual in the area. A verbal dispute between the two escalated into what police described as a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly produced a firearm and discharged a single round. Police said the round struck the suspect himself, resulting in a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No one else was injured.

The suspect, Adam Moore, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, taken into custody upon release, and booked into the Washoe County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and discharging a firearm in a congested area.
