LYON COUNTY, Nev. (Dec. 18, 2025) — Two people ended up going to a Reno hospital after surviving a small plane crash on Wednesday, according to local and federal authorities.
Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope said the crash occurred in an area off U.S. Highway 50 near the Silver Springs Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a single-engine Mooney M206 went down at about 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 17.
Deputies responding to the scene confirmed the aircraft had crashed and located two occupants and one dog inside the craft. Fire and EMS crews assisted the occupants out of the plane before both were transported by air to a local hospital for treatment.
There were no other reported injuries or property damage.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will take over the investigation into the cause of the crash.
