Rosen Pushes to Reverse Work Permit Rule Change

Nevada Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen is calling for the reversal of a federal rule change eliminating automatic extensions for certain work permits, warning it could disrupt Nevada’s workforce.

Rosen met with immigration advocates on Friday, stating delays at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services can leave eligible workers unable to work for months despite timely renewal applications. She said the issue could significantly affect industries such as hospitality, which relies heavily on immigrant labor.

The policy change has raised concerns among service providers about workers being in legal and employment limbo. Rosen is seeking to restore automatic extensions, while critics argue that stricter enforcement is necessary.
