A man who claims he was wrongfully arrested at the Peppermill in 2023 is now suing the City of Reno.
Jason Killinger was detained after facial recognition software allegedly misidentified him as a person previously barred from the property. He was taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where fingerprint testing confirmed he was not the suspect, and he was released.
Killinger filed suit in 2025 against the arresting officer, alleging fabricated evidence and excessive force, though a wrongful arrest claim was denied. A district court has now allowed him to add the City of Reno as a defendant, along with a municipal liability claim.
