Carson City Man Arrested for Assaulting Mother

An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of domestic battery following a disturbance at a Carson City residence, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 9:13 p.m. after a caller reported yelling and screaming in the background before the line disconnected.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the suspect’s mother, who said her son had an outburst, threw hot tea on her, and damaged a door during the incident. While deputies were on scene, the man reportedly came out of the back of the residence and began arguing with her again.

According to the arrest report, the man told deputies he had been arguing with his mother and admitted to throwing a beverage during the dispute, though he claimed he did not aim it directly at her. He also alleged that his mother slapped him after the incident, but deputies did not observe visible injuries on him.

The mother told deputies the argument began earlier and escalated outside, where her son threw a hot cup of tea that splashed onto her upper body and arm. Deputies observed what appeared to be consistent marks from hot liquid on her clothing and skin, the report states.

Based on the statements and the suspect’s admission, deputies arrested the 18-year-old on suspicion of domestic battery.
