Douglas County K9 Blaze Dies

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced that K9 Blaze passed away at home on Sunday.

Blaze, a Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd mix, joined the department in 2021 after arriving from Slovakia as a puppy. He was certified in patrol, narcotics detection, and tracking.

During his service, the DCSO deployed Blaze 175 times, assisting in 13 arrests and helping seize a range of illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and mushrooms.

Blaze was the partner of Deputy Robert Oaks.
