Parolee Arrested in Sun Valley With a Gun

A man was taken into custody on Wednesday after Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a person with a firearm in Sun Valley.

Deputies were called to the area of Carnes Circle on March 11 after a field support specialist reported seeing someone with a gun while working in the area. The employee was handling issues related to abandoned vehicles.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested 40-year-old David Leonard Buttz. Authorities said Buttz had an arrest warrant for a felony charge of parole violation previously issued.

He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, failure to register as a convicted person, and an outstanding warrant for failure to comply.
