Bicyclist in Critical Condition in Reno

A 65-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition following a crash Monday evening near Pickett Park, according to the Reno Police Department.

The collision occurred just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Ryland and Locust streets. Police said the bicyclist suffered major head injuries, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital.

Authorities noted the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet or other protective safety gear at the time of the crash. The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police said speed and impairment do not appear to be factors. The identity of the bicyclist is unknown.
