One person is dead after an early morning house fire in Sun Valley, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Patrol deputies responded around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday to a report of a possible structure fire at a residence on Carol Drive, near Leon Drive and East 1st Avenue. When deputies arrived, they observed visible smoke coming from inside the home.
The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District also responded and began fire suppression efforts. Crews contained the blaze to the single residence, preventing it from spreading to neighboring homes.
Authorities said one body was inside the residence, but have not released a name.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the incident. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct a formal investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.
