RENO, Nev. (Dec. 16, 2025) — Four men have been sentenced to life in prison in separate child sex assault cases, according to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office.
Christopher Escobar received a life sentence after being convicted of lewdness with a child under the age of 14. Reno police were notified in December after the grandmother of a 10-year-old victim reported that Escobar, who was known to the child, had inappropriately touched her while she was sleeping.
Investigators later learned that two other minors were victims. He will be eligible for parole after 10 years.
Andrew Malsack also received a life sentence after being convicted of sexual assault of a child under 16. Earlier this year, a 13-year-old girl reported to her school counselor that she had been sexually assaulted multiple times by Malsack while living in Sparks.
Investigators found the assaults occurred when the victim was between four and five years old. Police also identified a second victim, assaulted at a similar age. Malsack will be eligible for parole after 25 years.
Javier Castellanos-Bacilio was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 65 years. Convicted before on three counts of lewdness with a child and one count of sexual assault of a child under 14, he received sentences of 10 years to life for each lewdness count and 35 years to life for the sexual assault count, with all sentences ordered to run consecutively.
Jaime Oseguera received an additional 115 years in prison in connection with a second case involving three victims. He received 247 years in a separate case dating back to 2020. In the second case, a jury convicted Oseguera of one count of sexual assault of a child under 16, nine counts of lewdness with a child under 14, one count of indecent exposure, and three counts of open and gross lewdness.
According to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, 37 life sentences have been issued to child sex offenders so far this year.
