VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (Dec. 16, 2025) — Actor Terrence Howard is filming a new movie in Virginia City. The project, titled Dust Land, is currently in production in the historic mining town.
Howard is an Academy Award–nominated actor best known for his roles in Hustle & Flow, Iron Man, Crash, and the television series Empire, in which he starred as music mogul Lucious Lyon. His performance in Hustle & Flow earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, helping launch a career that spans more than two decades in film and television.
Virginia City has long attracted filmmakers because of its preserved Old West architecture and historic atmosphere, making it a popular backdrop for Westerns and period pieces. Details about the plot of Dust Land and a potential release date are unknown.
