Homicide detectives have launched an investigation after a woman was discovered deceased on a sidewalk in east Las Vegas on Tuesday morning, authorities announced.
The incident was reported at approximately 8:08 a.m. in the 3500 block of E. Bonanza Road, near Pecos Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located an unresponsive woman with apparent injuries. Medical personnel who responded to the call pronounced her dead at the location.
While the Clark County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death, homicide detectives have determined the woman had been battered at some point during the night, according to preliminary findings.
Police are actively seeking witnesses and any available video surveillance footage from the area that might provide information about the incident.
