DNA evidence has led the University of Nevada, Las Vegas police to a convicted felon now accused of attacking a student in her apartment near campus.
Jordan Grady, 36, appeared before a judge on Tuesday following his arrest in connection with the April 14 incident.
According to an arrest report, the woman was asleep in her bedroom at the Legacy Las Vegas Apartments when Grady allegedly broke in wearing a ski mask and holding a kitchen knife. The report states he threatened and sexually assaulted her.
The victim fought back and suffered a deep cut to her arm before managing to lock herself in a bathroom and call 911.
Detectives used a DNA match from a national database to identify Grady as a suspect. A search of his white Tesla turned up a ski mask and a knife that matched the victim’s description.
Grady is facing multiple felony charges, including sexual assault and kidnapping. He is due back in court on May 5 for further proceedings in the case.
UNLV police have not released additional details about the investigation or Grady’s previous criminal history.
