A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and a parole and probation violation following an incident near Airport Road.
Deputies were called around 8:55 a.m. to the area of Sherman Lane and Airport Road for a reported assault involving a vehicle.
A witness told deputies that he saw a gold GMC drive aggressively past another vehicle before stopping near roadwork and yelling at construction workers. The witness said his daughter then began recording the incident.
Investigators said video evidence shows the driver, identified as Monica Salas, directing her attention toward the woman recording and yelling profanities before getting into her vehicle and driving toward her at a high rate of speed while she stood on a sidewalk. Deputies stated the vehicle stopped short of contact before fleeing the area.
Salas was later located in Carson City and arrested at a business after deputies identified her from the video, with her vehicle recovered nearby. Salas told deputies she had been upset over another driver she believed was “brake-checking” her.
She faces a charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities also placed a no-bail hold for a parole and probation violation.
