A 64-year-old man was arrested on DUI-related charges after a crash on West Oakey Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon that killed a 46-year-old motorcyclist.
Waymon Wells, driving a 2016 Jeep Renegade, allegedly failed to slow down while approaching stopped traffic, striking the rear of a Harley-Davidson and projecting the rider onto the roadway. The Jeep then collided with a 2020 Kia Telluride, whose driver and one juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries.
Wells remained at the scene but showed signs of impairment.
The motorcyclist’s death marks the 36th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2026.
