Gas Prices in Nevada Rise Even More

Gasoline prices in Nevada are climbing as Americans nationwide pay about 35% more since recent attacks on Iran, according to a report from the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee – Minority. The report estimates the total cost to families across the U.S. at $8.4 billion, with Nevada shouldering roughly $83 million, higher than 17 other states. By comparison, Texas saw more than $1 billion in added costs.

GasBuddy’s weekly report on Monday showed the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Reno at $5.22, above the Nevada statewide average of $5.00. Prices increased by 8 cents over the past week, reflecting a 1.6% rise. Over the past year, prices have increased 97 cents, a notable 22.8%.

Diesel in Reno now costs $6.43 per gallon, up 42 cents over the week (6.9%) and $2.39 (59.2%) over the year. Historical high prices in Reno include $6.05 for gas on June 14, 2022, and $6.44 for diesel on April 5, 2026.

AAA’s data as of April 6 shows Nevada’s statewide averages at $5.01 for regular, $5.30 for mid-grade, $5.61 for premium, and $6.38 for diesel. Reno metro prices are slightly higher than the state average at $5.22 for regular, while Carson City stations range from $4.09 to $4.59.

State and local taxes add further costs: Nevada imposes 23.81 cents per gallon, county and Regional Transportation Commission fees add 36 cents, and federal taxes contribute 18.4 cents.
