Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford is asking a California court to enforce an order preventing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from obtaining and sharing large portions of Medicaid data.
Ford, joined by a coalition of other state attorneys general, says recent communications with HHS indicate that Medicaid data may have been shared with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), despite a court ruling limiting such disclosures. The exact contents of the data remain unclear.
The AGs are asking the court to clarify the scope of its original order, which covers all lawfully residing individuals in the U.S., and to compel the federal government to disclose what data was shared and how ICE is using it.
