Maj. Gen. Rodger Waters, Adjutant General of the Nevada National Guard, has announced two upcoming troop deployments from Northern Nevada.
The 150th Army Guard unit, based in Carson City, will support ongoing operations in the Middle East. The deployment is to occur within the next 30 to 60 days. Military officials emphasized that this mobilization was pre-planned and not connected to the recent start of Operation Epic Fury.
Meanwhile, the Reno-based 152nd Airlift Wing, which operates the fleet of C-130 Hercules cargo planes, has been activated for duty in Europe. A specific deployment date is unknown. The unit will provide critical support for U.S. Central Command operations.
For security reasons, the Nevada National Guard has not released the exact number of troops involved in either mission.
