Nevada Ranked Among Most Stressed States

A new study finds Nevada is among the most stressed-out states in the country, ranking near the top for economic, work, and personal factors.

According to a WalletHub analysis comparing all 50 states across 40 key indicators of stress, Nevada is No. 6 overall. The study evaluated factors ranging from average hours worked per week and job security to personal bankruptcy rates and the percentage of adults getting adequate sleep.

The report places Louisiana, Kentucky, New Mexico, West Virginia, and Arkansas as the five most stressed states in the nation.

On the other end of the spectrum, South Dakota, Utah, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Vermont were the least stressed states.

Researchers say stress nationwide continues to be driven by concerns about the future, the economy, and work. Data from the American Psychological Association shows those pressures are often compounded by loneliness and emotional disconnect, with nearly 70% of adults reporting they need more emotional support than they receive.

In Nevada, specific stressors include low job security, a lack of affordable housing, and higher-than-average divorce rates, according to the study.
