Amazon has officially begun hiring in Northern Nevada as work moves forward on a new data center project in Storey County.
The Northern Nevada Development Authority (NNDA) announced that the company began recruiting locally for positions tied to the facility at Switch’s Citadel Campus inside the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. As part of the effort, Amazon hosted a hiring event on Monday, March 9, at Truckee Meadows Community College, where job seekers had the opportunity to meet recruiters and learn about available positions.
Recruitment is underway for various roles supporting both construction and long-term operations. Those positions include engineers, data center technicians, and installation technicians.
Governor Joe Lombardo stated the investment signals Nevada continues to attract major technology companies. He noted the project will create hundreds of jobs, with additional economic benefits reaching suppliers, contractors, and service providers connected to the project.
NNDA Deputy Director Tatjana Vukovic said Amazon’s hiring effort reflects confidence in Northern Nevada’s workforce and long-term economic outlook. She said the jobs represent meaningful career opportunities while also helping generate tax revenue that supports schools, public safety, and infrastructure.
Company leaders also say the facility will primarily rely on direct air cooling, with limited industrial water use when necessary.
