Ford Files to Run for Nevada Governor

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford officially filed paperwork Monday to run for governor, setting up a challenge to incumbent Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo.

Ford, a Democrat, has been signaling his intentions for months. In January, he began rolling out what he calls his “Affordable Nevada” agenda, focusing on lowering housing costs, making healthcare more affordable, and expanding access to clean, affordable energy.

In announcing the agenda earlier this year, Ford said his campaign would center on addressing the rising cost of living for Nevada families and improving economic opportunity across the state.

Lombardo, a Republican and former Clark County sheriff, was elected governor in 2022. His campaign has focused on public safety and economic growth during his first term.
