A major crash involving a semi-truck shut down westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Patrick on Thursday morning, causing significant traffic delays.
The two-vehicle crash was reported around 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 26, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a passenger car may have suffered a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to collide with a diesel semi-truck.
Paramedics transported one person to the hospital by Care Flight, and a second person went by ground ambulance. Authorities have not released the extent of their injuries.
The crash ruptured the semi’s fuel tank, spilling diesel onto the interstate. Cleanup crews responded to contain and remove the fuel.
In a separate incident on Thursday morning, one person received injuries severe enough to need hospitalization following a rollover crash near Bishop Manogue High School. Reno Police stated that a Volkswagen and a BMW collided at the intersection of Virginia Street and McCabe Drive.
A woman went to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries.
