Las Vegas Man Arrested in Carson City

A 48-year-old Las Vegas man was arrested Feb. 6 in Carson City on suspicion of felony vehicle burglary, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and affray, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Deputies arrested Jonathan Vazquez following an investigation into an incident reported at a hotel on Hospitality Way.

According to the report, deputies responded to a call of indecent exposure. The reporting party described a man wearing a black jacket who was allegedly exposing himself outside the hotel’s fitness area.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with a woman who said the man made obscene gestures toward her, her husband, and their children as the family walked to the hotel’s weight room. She told deputies the man repeatedly attempted to provoke her husband into a fight. Both she and her husband said they wanted to press charges for disorderly conduct.

Deputies then contacted the suspect. According to the report, he had a strong odor of alcohol, was swaying back and forth, and had thick, slurred speech. He told deputies he had consumed a few drinks and was attempting to get an Uber to his hotel, but was unable to say which hotel he was staying at. He denied exposing himself or making gestures and said he could not recall what had occurred in the fitness area.

While speaking with the suspect, deputies learned that the couple wished to pursue charges against the suspect.

Deputies also spoke with a hotel employee who said the suspect was a guest and had made obscene gestures toward a female guest and three children. The employee reported that the man unsuccessfully attempted to force his way into the fitness center where the family was using the facility.

According to the report, the employee said the suspect then entered her vehicle. When she told him to get out, he refused and grabbed her right arm, pulling her back toward the car. She said she was able to break free and returned to the hotel lobby, locking the front door because she feared he would follow her inside.

The employee told deputies the incident was on surveillance video, but stated she did not have access to the footage at the time. Deputies left contact information and requested that the hotel’s general manager provide the video.

Deputies asked Vazquez to submit to a preliminary breath test. He consented and registered a blood alcohol content of .229, according to the report.

Deputies took him into custody on suspicion of felony vehicle burglary, disorderly conduct, and affray. Formal charges are pending.
