Truckee Police arrested a driver Saturday afternoon after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians near the front entrance of a Safeway store, injuring four people.
Police say the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Donner Pass Road. Officers responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with pedestrians around 2:45 p.m. and, upon arrival, determined the act was intentional.
The driver is 49-year-old Jonathan Maurer of Coalinga. Police took him into custody at the scene.
Authorities said four victims, both adults and children, were injured in the incident, but their injuries were non-life-threatening.
Maurer is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce bodily injury, felony vandalism, and violation of post-release community supervision terms.
