U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen is calling on the federal courts to ensure protections for minors held in immigration detention.
Rosen joined other senators in filing an amicus brief with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, urging the court to uphold the 1997 Flores Settlement Agreement. The agreement establishes minimum standards for the treatment of children in U.S. immigration custody, including conditions of detention, access to medical care, and limits on the length of confinement.
The filing highlights partisan concerns about ensuring humane treatment for minors and maintaining legal standards for immigration detention.
