A man is in custody following an overnight barricade situation at a home in Spanish Springs, according to police.
Officers were first called to Vista Boulevard near Hubble Drive around 11 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports related to the incident. Police said the man barricaded himself inside the residence, prompting a lengthy response that stretched into the early morning hours.
SWAT arrived on the scene. Officers said tear gas was deployed around 7 a.m. to force the man out of the home, after which they took him into custody without further incident.
During the police response, Vista Boulevard was temporarily closed near Hubble Drive to ensure public safety. The roadway has since reopened.
Authorities have not released additional details about the suspect or the circumstances that led to the barricade. The investigation remains ongoing.
