The Elko Police Department announced Tuesday the arrest of two individuals on separate charges, including a child luring case and a drug-related offense.
Shaun Herzog from Elko is in jail for luring a child or a person with a mental illness using a computer. According to the Elko Police Department, officers served an arrest warrant with the assistance of the Elko SWAT Team due to the severity of the charge and as a precaution.
Herzog initially refused to exit his residence, but was safely taken into custody after the SWAT Team deployed a distractionary device.
Earlier the same day, a traffic stop led to the arrest of Corey Pavlinek of Spring Creek on drug charges. Officers stopped Pavlinek’s vehicle near Mountain City Highway after observing it leave a suspected drug activity area.
A police K9 detected the presence of narcotics, prompting a search of the car. Officers reportedly found about 17 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Pavlinek was booked into the Elko County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, 14–28 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
