Landing Gear Falls from Flight

A British Airways passenger plane lost a piece of landing gear while taking off from Harry Reid International Airport earlier this week.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. Monday when Flight 274, an Airbus bound for London, lost a tire during its ascent. Despite the malfunction, the aircraft landed safely at London Heathrow Airport.

Airport authorities confirmed that the wheel was retrieved, with no reported injuries or damage to airport property. Experts note that incidents involving landing gear detachment, while rare, are not unprecedented.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has opened an investigation into the incident. The aircraft is going from London to São Paulo on Thursday.

Officials have not yet released details on the cause of the detachment.
