A 26-year-old South Lake Tahoe, California, man was arrested Wednesday night following an alleged domestic battery at a gas station on South Carson Street, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Alvaro Jesus Martinez Perez on S. Carson Street on charges of domestic battery (second offense), burglary of a motor vehicle involving domestic violence, and being an intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a gas station just after 7 p.m. on a report of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim, who appeared distraught and initially had difficulty focusing while speaking with them. Deputies also observed two male witnesses near the front of the store.
The victim told deputies Martinez Perez had struck her. Deputies observed bruising on her face and arms, an abrasion on her upper lip, and redness on her wrist.
She stated that some of the injuries had occurred earlier in the day in South Lake Tahoe and that another incident happened in the gas station parking lot.
The victim reported Martinez Perez ran up to her vehicle, threw a drink through the window, then opened the door, grabbed her by the hair, and pulled her from the car. Deputies noted liquid inside and outside the vehicle and found an empty Twisted Tea container on the driver’s floorboard.
Two witnesses said they saw the victim run into the gas station crying and observed bruising on her arms. Deputies reviewed surveillance video that showed a man matching Martinez Perez’s description aggressively approaching the vehicle, throwing a drink inside, opening the door, and the victim exiting the car before the man fled on foot.
Martinez Perez was later located and detained. He admitted to drinking alcohol and provided a breath sample showing a BrAC of 0.166.
He has a prior conviction for battery on a spouse from October 2025.
