A 31-year-old Reno man was arrested Sunday morning in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Area after deputies discovered he had multiple outstanding felony warrants.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., a Storey County sheriff’s deputy was patrolling the area when he observed a man standing behind a locked gate at a business that had recently victimized by multiple burglaries. The man was holding what appeared to be an exposed ignition wire from a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
When the deputy attempted to make contact, the suspect fled the area. The deputy ordered the man to stop and return, and the suspect complied.
Jason Pineda refused to identify himself and provided false information, including a name and date of birth. Pineda continued to refuse to produce identification and allegedly told the deputy that he might have outstanding warrants.
The deputy was able to identify Pineda through a bank card located at the scene. His identity was subsequently confirmed using a photograph from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.
A records check revealed that Pineda had two felony warrants issued by the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada and the Reno Justice Court. Both warrants carried no bail holds.
Pineda was arrested on outstanding warrants and also charged with using or obtaining someone else’s personal identifying information to delay or obstruct prosecution, as well as resisting or delaying a public officer.
