Elko, Nev. — Elko Police Department detectives are investigating the death of an individual found on Thu., Jan. 8, at a transient camp near the Errecart Boulevard bridge.
Officers responded to a report of a deceased person in the area and located the body inside a makeshift campsite, according to police. Detectives are withholding the name of the person pending notification of the next of kin.
Preliminary findings suggest the death may have been accidental. Investigators believe the individual may have started a fire inside a tent in an effort to stay warm during recent freezing temperatures in the area.
Detectives noted that there are no signs of foul play, and authorities are not currently seeking any suspects. However, the investigation remains active as officials work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
