Reno, Nev. — A juvenile is facing multiple weapons and resisting charges following a traffic stop that escalated into a struggle Jan. 4 with police officers in Reno, authorities said.
Officers with the Reno Police Department initiated the stop after observing a vehicle with registration and moving violations. During the stop, police said the front-seat passenger exited the automobile and began struggling with officers.
The passenger, identified as a juvenile, was taken to the ground, where officers discovered and removed a handgun from his waistband, according to police.
The juvenile is facing charges of obstructing and resisting with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of a firearm without a serial number, possession of a firearm while under the age of 18, possession of an open container of alcohol, minor in consumption of alcohol, obstructing and resisting, and curfew violations.
There were no injuries reported. The case remains under investigation.
