Las Vegas, Nev. — A Las Vegas man accused of killing his 75-year-old grandmother told police he heard “AI voices” that prompted the attack, according to a newly obtained arrest report.

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded around 8:17 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2025, on East Desert Inn Road for a welfare check on Reyna Flores De Hernandez. The caller told authorities that her grandson, 41-year-old Franklin Flores, had told his wife that the grandmother “was in heaven.”

Police found Flores’ grandmother’s body on the bed, covered with blankets, and medical personnel later confirmed she had suffered extensive sharp-force injuries. Flores was located by Henderson Police Department officers at the Pittman Wash Trail and taken into custody.

During interviews, Flores described delusions involving employees at his workplace, claiming they were “engaging in human trafficking” and “hurting his wife and children.” He said he moved in with his grandmother because he believed she was part of a conspiracy to steal his money and was supporting his alleged adversaries.

The arrest report notes Flores told police he could hear “AI and informants… whispering” to his grandmother.

According to the report, Flores admitted he entered his grandmother’s bedroom with a hatchet, kissed her on the forehead, and then struck her multiple times. He said he continued to live with her body until the voices told him “the time was up.”

Flores reportedly has a history of schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and PTSD, but does not take prescribed medications.

Flores is facing an open murder charge in connection with his grandmother’s death. He appeared in court for the first time since his arrest on Monday morning.
