WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. — Washoe County deputies stopped an illegal dumping operation in the hills near Reno over the weekend, leading to the arrest of a Minden man.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were first called Saturday to the area of High Rock Way and Wedekind Road after reports of illegal dumping. When deputies initially arrived, they found no one.
A short time later, the reporting party called again to say the individual had returned and was actively dumping more debris. Deputies responded a second time and found 37-year-old Christopher Whitney of Minden dumping dozens of tires in the area.
Whitney was cited for illegal dumping and arrested after deputies discovered he had two outstanding warrants. They booked him into the Washoe County Detention Facility on a misdemeanor failure to appear charge and a felony grand larceny charge connected to a Carson City Municipal/Justice Court case.
