Pedestrian Killed on I-80 On-Ramp Identified

WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle at an I-80 on-ramp in November.

The Nevada State Police responded to the crash around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the intersection of Maple Street and University Way in Washoe County.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2008 GMC Acadia was traveling eastbound on Maple Street in the number one travel lane while entering the eastbound I-80 on-ramp when it struck a pedestrian who was traveling southbound through the intersection.

The pedestrian was Jennifer Nelson, 51, of Reno. She died from her injuries after arriving at the hospital.

Authorities say the driver of the GMC remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The crash remains under review.
