Earthquake Shakes Susanville

Susanville, Cal. — A moderate earthquake shook parts of Northern California late Tuesday night, according to preliminary seismic data.

The magnitude 4.9 quake struck at 9:49 p.m. on December 30. Seismologists report the epicenter was located approximately 10 miles north-northeast of Susanville, with the earthquake originating at a depth of about 15 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the tremor. Local officials advised residents to remain alert for possible aftershocks and to review standard earthquake safety procedures.
