Former Teacher Appears in Court

RENO, Nev. (Dec. 16, 2025) — Former Washoe County teacher Taji Hillson appeared in Reno Justice Court on Tuesday in connection with multiple felony charges involving alleged sexual abuse spanning more than two decades.

Hillson was arrested in July and faces several counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, sexual assault of a child under 14, and one count of sexual assault of an adult. According to court documents, the alleged incidents occurred between 1998 and 2022.

The Reno Police Department stated that its investigation into the sexual assault by Hillson began in May 2025.

The investigation stemmed from allegations that, 20 years prior, she assaulted a child under the age of 10. Detectives later determined that the same victim was also allegedly violated as an adult by Hillson. Authorities say Hillson allegedly touched another child under the age of 10.

Hillson, 62, was taken into custody on July 2, 2025. At the time of her arrest, she worked as a teacher at Roy Gomm Elementary School.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked contact the Reno Police Department at 775-334-2677 or Secret Witness by calling or texting 775-322-4900 or visiting secretwitness.com.
