The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office has announced a new text message and ballot tracking initiative designed to provide voters with essential information regarding the upcoming June election.
Nevada voters will begin receiving text messages containing instructions and reminders about their voter registration. These messages will be sent from the number 855-448-8323 and will be available in both English and Spanish. Messages will include the Nevada State seal to verify their authenticity.
The initial messages will focus on encouraging voters to update their address and party affiliation before the June election.
Nonpartisan voters will receive specific notifications informing them that the June Primary is a closed election, requiring them to update their registration if they wish to participate in the election. Those in Carson City will receive notification that the city has no nonpartisan races on the primary ballot, meaning they will not receive one.
Voters registered with either the Democratic or Republican parties will receive text messages encouraging them to verify and update their address information if necessary.
The Secretary of State’s Office has also expanded ballot tracking services. Voters can sign up for the free tracking service at MyBallot.NV.gov to receive updates via email, phone call, or text message once enrolled.
Tracking notifications will include when the mail ballot is sent out, received by the county election office, accepted for counting, or flagged by the county election office and requires attention.
The State of Nevada will provide ballot tracking through the “Ballot Scout” service. Voters who previously signed up for ballot tracking through “BallotTrax” will receive an initial message alerting them to this change in service providers.
