Man Convicted of Lewdness at UNR

A 31-year-old man has been convicted of open or gross lewdness for harassing a University of Nevada, Reno student and exposing himself during a 2023 incident, according to the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Cedric Jones made repeated unwanted advances toward the victim, which she rejected. About a month later, he approached her while she was studying alone, offered to show her another study location, and led her to a different building.

Once there, authorities said Jones asked vulgar, sexually explicit questions and began touching himself inside his pants. During the trial, a previous victim testified about a similar incident involving Jones in 2020.

Jones faces up to 364 days in the Washoe County Jail. He is also required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing is May 13.
