Nevada Man Faces Charges for Child Exploitation

A Nevada man is facing federal charges after investigators say he spent more than a year attempting to coordinate the sexual exploitation of children online.

Carl Schilbe made his initial court appearance on Friday, March 27, on charges including attempted coercion of minors to produce sexually explicit material and receipt of child sexual abuse material, according to a federal indictment.

Prosecutors allege that between January 6, 2023, and May 29, 2024, Schilbe attempted to arrange and direct the live-streamed sexual abuse of children. The indictment further alleges that between April 18 and April 19, 2024, he received child sexual abuse material.

Schilbe faces three counts of attempted sexual exploitation of children and one count of receipt of child pornography. If convicted, he faces a maximum statutory penalty of up to 30 years in federal prison.
